At least 43 people have died and millions are forced to live without electricity in the southeastern US due to Hurricane Helen.

Officials have said that boats, helicopters and big vehicles are being used to rescue people trapped in flood waters. Work is also going on to rescue about 50 employees and patients trapped on the roof of a Tennessee hospital.

After hitting the coast on Thursday night, 26 September 2024, it is the most powerful hurricane to hit the coast of Florida so far, which has moved north towards Georgia and Carolina.

Insurers and financial institutions say that billions of dollars have been lost due to the storm.
