Senior US Democratic leader Bernie Sanders has called Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a war criminal.
Bernie Sanders says Netanyahu should not have been called for a joint session of Congress. Bernie Sanders has said that he will not participate in the joint session of Congress.
Bernie Sanders has posted a thread on the social media platform X. Bernie Sanders said, "Netanyahu is a war criminal and he should not have been called to the joint session of Congress. I am not participating in this session."
Bernie Sanders said, "Israel has the right to protect itself against Hamas' attack, but this right does not give you permission to wage war against Palestinians."
Bernie Sanders said, "Israel does not have the right to kill 34,000 Palestinians. You cannot kill 19,000 children. You do not have the right to destroy Gaza's health system. You cannot kill more than 400 health workers."
Bernie Sanders said, "Israel cannot stop humanitarian aid in Gaza. This is a violation of US and international law. The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant against Netanyahu and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. Both of them have violated international law.''
The US Congress has invited Netanyahu to participate in a joint session.
According to the Hamas-run Health Ministry, more than 36,000 Palestinians have died in Israeli attacks since October 7, 2023.
