Charity institution Oxfam has warned that up to 12,000 people may die every day due to starvation related to Covid-19 by the end of this year.
This figure will probably be more than the number of people dying from the disease every day.
Oxfam says that there are many reasons for increasing starvation, including large numbers of unemployment, problems with food producers due to lockdown, and difficulties in providing assistance.
The hotspots mentioned by Oxfam in its report are starvation hotspots - DR Congo, Afghanistan, Venezuela, West African Sahel, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Syria, Sudan and Haiti.
