Umaid Hotel's BJP owner leaked Hardic Patel's footage

Despite denial of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and Patidar Reservation Movement leader Hardik Patel, on the basis of CCTV footage, the media is still running the news of the meeting between the two.

In its latest report, the Ahmedabad Mirror has claimed that in the alleged CCTV footage, the hotel in which Hardik Patel has appeared is a BJP leader.

According to the Ahmedabad Mirror report, the name of the hotel owner Umade Singh Champawat has also been linked to the call girl racket in the past. Champawat has been in the Congress for a long time. In Gujarat, voting is going to be held for the December 9 and December 14 assembly elections. The results will come on December 18.

According to the Ahmedabad Mirror, the hotel which is claimed to see Hardik Patel is the Airport Circle Hotel in Ahmedabad. At this five star hotel, Hardik Patel has deliberately accused of leaking CCTV footage from malicious intentions.

Hardik Patel had denied Rahul Gandhi's meeting.

Hardik had tweeted that when he meets Rahul, he will openly tell everyone. However, Hardik admitted that he had met the senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot at the hotel. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is the Congress in-charge of Gujarat.

Ashok Gehlot had alleged that IB and Gujarat police seized CCTV footage from hotel management.

The hotel's manager also told that the police had asked for the footage which was given to them. Ashok Gehlot raised the Center's Narendra Modi government and the state's Rupani government in the clutches to seize the CCTV footage of the hotel.

However, BJP denied any role in this. The leak in the media of CCTV footage is being questioned on social media.

According to the Mumbai Mirror report, hotel owner Umaid Singh Champawat had joined BJP along with 30 other local leaders in February 2014. Champawat and others at that time had told 'the respect and affection towards Narendra Modi' the reason for joining BJP.

Before joining BJP, Champawat was in Congress for nearly a decade. He has also contested the Vidhan Sabha elections against Narendra Modi and Amit Shah on Congress ticket. Champawat has contested the Vidhan Sabha elections against the late BJP leader Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.

In February 2003, Champawat was confronted by controversy, when the then Home Minister Amit Shah of Gujarat, in a press conference alleged that three ministers of the then government of Punjab who came to Gujarat for campaigning were staying in their hotel and call girl services was taken. A case was registered against Champawat for running a body trade racket in the police.

According to the Ahmedabad Mirror, there were also officers in the police team investigating body trade racket against Champawat, who was accused in Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case. In this investigation team, Tarun Barot was lodged in judicial custody for nearly three years in Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case. Later, when Barot retired, the Gujarat government put him on the job stating the need for his service. But the Supreme Court canceled the appointment while reprimanding the BJP government of Gujarat on his appointment.

After the Barot, the investigation of the body trade racket started under the supervision of senior IPS P P Pandey. P P Pandey was also arrested in Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case. The full investigation of the body trade case was under the control of the then Chief of the Crime Branch DG Vanzara. Vanzara has been in jail since being accused in various fake encounters from 2007 to 2015.

When the case of body trade was registered, Champawat was a Congress leader. He had filed a petition in the High Court that he was being harassed for political reasons. Champawat told the High Court that he was the National Joint Secretary of Youth Congress and was the Secretary of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee. The court had ordered the cancellation of the case filed against them.

Even today, Champawat is in BJP, but he has good relations with Congress leaders too. During the recent Rajya Sabha elections Congress leader Ahmed Patel stayed in his hotel.
