Trump spoke to Netanyahu by phone about the Flydubai incident
US President Donald Trump stated that he spoke by phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the Flydubai incident.
Trump said on Wednesday that Netanyahu briefed him on the events, noting that passengers on board had attempted to intervene to save the flight and bring it under control.
Trump remarked, "I think it is a very shocking story. It seems the co-pilot was perhaps a terrorist or possibly mentally unstable."
He also praised the Indian pilot who was attacked, calling him a "hero."
The incident occurred on Wednesday when a flight bound for Tel Aviv from Dubai diverted to Saudi Arabia and landed there about two hours after takeoff.
Inside the cockpit, one pilot attacked the other. The pilot who was attacked is an Indian national named Smit Machhar. However, the motive behind the alleged attack remains unknown.
