Russia's attacks on Kyiv have intensified

By IBTN News Bureau --
03 October, 2026

Russian attacks on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, have intensified. On Saturday morning, a Russian strike damaged the city's key Northern Bridge. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed the incident.

According to Klitschko, the attack damaged the bridge's road surface and the overhead power lines for trolleybuses. Traffic across the bridge has been temporarily suspended following the strike.

He stated that traffic moving from the left bank to the right bank is currently halted, and emergency services have been dispatched to the scene.

Additionally, the Southern Bridge is also facing repeated attacks. Since Thursday, Russian drones have targeted the Southern Bridge multiple times, prompting the city's Defense Council to hold an emergency meeting on Friday.

Following the meeting, Klitschko described the situation in Kyiv as extremely serious. He noted that Russia is targeting critical infrastructure, logistics networks, residential areas, and other vital facilities within the city.

The Northern and Southern bridges are major routes connecting the eastern and western parts of Kyiv. Prior to Thursday, neither bridge had been subjected to such attacks. The sustained strikes have placed increasing strain on the capital's transportation system.

The Congress sharply criticized the central government over the decline in India's foreign exchange reserves

The Congress has sharply criticized the Modi government at the Centre over the decline in India's foreign exchange reserves.

On Saturday, the Congress alleged that dollars are being sold from the foreign exchange reserves to prevent the exchange rate from crossing the ₹100 mark against the dollar.

Writing on the social media platform X, the Congress stated, "The country's foreign exchange reserves have fallen by $38 billion in three weeks. This is because we are selling dollars from the reserves to slow down the rupee's depreciation."

It further added, "If the dollar hits ₹100, Modi's hollow image will suffer a blow—and that is why the country is being made to suffer a loss."

According to Reserve Bank of India data, India's foreign exchange reserves have declined by $18.343 billion to stand at $747.557 billion. These figures pertain to the week ending September 25.

In the preceding week, the reserves had fallen by $14.881 billion, standing at $765.901 billion.

Amnesty International has expressed concern regarding the rights of protesters

By IBTN News Bureau --

The international human rights organization Amnesty International has expressed concern regarding the rights of protesters following demonstrations in Delhi and Mumbai.

Amnesty International stated on Friday that government permission is not required to stage a protest. According to the organization, the right to peaceful protest is guaranteed under the Indian Constitution.

Amnesty International wrote on X, "The right to protest does not depend on government permission. It is protected under the Indian Constitution and international human rights law."

"Protesters in Delhi and Mumbai are demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. This demand arises amidst an ongoing controversy regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls being conducted by the Election Commission. Since 2025, the names of over 130 million (13 crore) people have been removed from the electoral rolls."

"Authorities issued orders to ban the protests, arrested hundreds of peaceful demonstrators, and suspended internet and public transport services."

Amnesty International wrote, "These measures constitute a blatant attack on the right to freedom of expression and the right to peaceful assembly. Those detained without valid grounds must be released immediately, and authorities must guarantee the right to protest."

Notably, the Delhi Police had denied permission for the protest at Jantar Mantar, and prohibitory orders under Section 163 were imposed in several areas of New Delhi.

According to BBC correspondent Dilnawaz Pasha, hundreds of protesters were detained by the police before they could even reach Jantar Mantar.

Houthis fired three ballistic missiles at Saudi Arabia

Conflict between Yemen's Houthi rebels and the Saudi-led military coalition has intensified once again.

The Saudi-led military coalition reported on Friday that Houthi forces fired three ballistic missiles toward the southern Saudi city of Khamis Mushait; all three were intercepted in mid-air.

A local resident was injured by falling debris from a ballistic missile that was intercepted over the Ahad Rafidah governorate in the southern Asir region.

Saudi Arabia's Civil Defense agency stated in a post on the social media platform X that falling missile debris caused damage to a building and also damaged several vehicles.

Meanwhile, the Houthis have claimed that Saudi Arabia carried out 94 attacks in Yemen over the past 24 hours. However, there has been no independent confirmation regarding these attacks.

At the same time, fighting has escalated around Taiz, one of Yemen's major cities.

The ongoing battle has spread to mountainous areas that overlook the Red Sea coast; the Houthis have recently gained control over some of these areas.

Taiz is considered Yemen's third-largest city and its cultural capital, with a population of approximately one million.

Saudi Arabia is preparing to launch a military operation against the Houthi rebels.

According to a report by the news agency Reuters, several options are being considered for the operation. These include military action in coastal areas to secure Red Sea shipping lanes and simultaneous attacks across multiple fronts in Yemen.

Officials indicate that the operation could be launched in the coming weeks. Saudi-backed Yemeni forces will lead the campaign on the ground, while the Saudi military will provide support through airstrikes; six people speaking to Reuters provided details about the preparations.
