The Election Commission has removed the additional declaration from the online Form 6
The Election Commission of India has removed the additional declaration from the online Form 6 for states where the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has concluded.
This means that once the SIR is complete, the additional information related to the SIR will no longer be required in Form 6.
According to the news agency PTI, this declaration remains visible in Form 6 for states where the SIR is still ongoing.
However, in states where the SIR has concluded, this additional declaration has been removed from the ECInet app and portal, as well as from the portals of the Chief Electoral Officers.
In such states, new voters seeking enrollment will now only need to fill out the statutory Form 6, as prescribed under the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.
This change was implemented following a Commission meeting held on September 26, attended by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi.
Form 6 is used to enroll names in the electoral roll.
According to the Election Commission, "Form 6 is used to add names to the electoral roll. It is intended for citizens aged 18 years or older who are becoming voters for the first time; they can register by filling out Form 6."
